So my Small Group Personal Training session this morning did their 1st true Interval Training workout. So what is Interval Training?  Is it the latest craze?  Does it make you better?  Will you out perform everyone else? Well... yes and no. No, it's not the latest trend or craze for exercise.  It's just a different form of aerobic and anaerobic training. But, yes, it will burn more calories in a shorter amount of time AND more calories burned 24-36 hours AFTER your workout... SERIOUSLY. Check out this article about Interval Training... Today, my clients did what I like to call "Medicine Ball Toss-N-Sprint". They basically take a medicine ball and toss it as far as possible... From there, they sprint to the medicine ball and jog back to where they started.   They did this for a duration of 5 minutes.  Some paced themselves, while others were going all out...  By the time they were around 3-4 minutes into the workout routine, they were slowing down.  But I promise you, they burned more calories in just those 5 minutes than running on a tread mill for 15 minutes. At the end, we ended it with a steady state run to help build their endurance. Next Tuesday we're doing our first PFT day (Physical Fitness Training)...  should be interesting because this is where they get bench marked...
