Crunches Fitness Myths Crunches won't give you 6 pack abs... so why do we make our clients do them? As many of you know, there are several fitness myths out there. Our goal is to reveal the truth behind some of these myths to give you a better understanding about fitness and heath. Fitness Myth #2: Doing crunches will get you six-pack abs. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about exercise in general, but more specifically with crunches, or just ab workouts in general. Doing crunches, or any type of ab exercise will increase the form of your abdominal muscles, however, they DO NOT reduce fat. The only TRUE way to get six-pack abs (and losing weight quickly) is by following a proper nutrition that emphasizes protein, veggies, and fruits, and cutting out and/or reducing the overdose of high starchy foods, grains, sweets, and processed foods. Abdominal exercises are a great way to tone and develop and strengthen muscles in your core, but don’t depend on them as the ONLY way to lose weight and get six-pack abs. That’s the problem with so many exercises that say “six-pack abs in 6 minutes” are simply gimmicks.
