Coach Javier, Marek, Coach Stacy, and Adam (Stacy's Husband) Obstacle Course Races have become the new craze recently.  From the Warrior Dash, Tough Mudder, Devil Dash, and Spartan Race -- all of these mud runs are beginning to gather a huge following. Now a days, who cares if you can run a fundraiser 5K race, or a local 10K like the Bolder Boulder, or Denver's popular  Colfax Marathon, which is coming up this weekend...  People wanna know if they can actually accomplish a mud run / obstacle course race.  And be able to stay alive at the finish line. Now we're not downsizing these other races.  We are avid supporters of our local races in Colorado.  But just follow us... Why the huge following? We honestly don't know... But, what we can say, we support it!!! Summit Fit Dojo is all on board with anything that makes you move, get in shape, change your lifestyle, and get you to have fun again -- like the golden years of being a kid! We want to help you meet your fitness goals with proper & challenging physical training and correct nutritional coaching that will change your life before you know it. With that said, Summit Fit Dojo is a HUGE supporter of the Reebok Spartan Race series.  An obstacle racing company created by 8 ultra marathon athletes and former military personnel that had a goal "to get you off your couch, throw you in the mud & trails, and feed you one tough endurance event day that will be the adrenalin rush of your life." Why does this sound fun and exciting... Again, we don't know.  Well, we sorta know, but you need to find out yourself to understand ;-) Watch this video to get an idea about the Spartan Race Series.   What is Spartan Race from SpartanRace on Vimeo.

Obstacle Course Race Training

Now, you may be wondering -- how the HELL am I gonna do one of those races??? No need to worry.  Summit Fit Dojo will get you there. See, we've started racing the Spartan Military Sprint in Ft. Carson, CO in 2012, when a couple of clients approached Coach Javier about having the goal of finishing a Spartan Race.  Coach Javier looked into it more, and began to realize that their fitness program at Summit Fit Dojo prepared you for a Spartan Race. All he simply did was take some ideas from the Spartan Race WOD (Workout of the Day) for training and implemented it into the normal fitness classes. Our Small Group Fitness and Kickboxing program is challenging, yet encouraging.  Sometimes you get pushed mentally.  Sometimes physically.  Other times emotionally.  But, at all times you are working every aspect of the body -- like what the Spartan Race creators wanted. Over these next several weeks, Summit Fit Dojo will be coming out with ways you can accomplish the challenging, yet addictive Spartan Military Sprint, a local favorite in Colorado.  The Spartan Military Sprint in 2013 was 4.5 mile with 28 obstacles.  Some were similar to last years, others the same.  Overall, the race was tougher, but the encouragement gained when you pass the finish line is priceless. If you have a goal of running the Spartan Military Sprint in Ft. Carson next year, signup now.  It will be on May 3rd and 4th 2014. Sign Up.  Show up.  Don't Give Up.
