I think the best two words that sum up the Spartan Military Sprint Slip Wall are "Holy Mother"! Seriously....The Slip Wall was intense! The wall itself was about 8 feet tall, and was placed at about a 45 degree angle. Let's not forget the fact that it was covered in mud and water, as were the ropes that were used to pull yourself up to the top. Have you ever tried to climb up a slippery surface...even a wet slide on the playground? It's hard! Now add to that the fact that YOU are covered in mud, the rope provided to you is covered in mud, and you have nothing but your upper body strength and your sense of drive to get you to the top! As you may be aware by this point, our Summit Fit Dojo Spartans trained for months in advance for the Spartan Military Sprint, and did their fair share of upper body strength building by way of push ups of every variety, pull ups, battle ropes, dumb bells, and more! Incline | Decline | Clapping | Creeping | Warrior | One Legged | Renegade | Dive Bombers...we love them all! We also trained our athletes to have a stronger grip with sand bag carries and kettle bell farmers walks. This obstacle truly was equally split between upper body strength, and the strong will and desire to reach the top. Some made it...and some did not. For those that could not "get a grip" on the Wall Slip, they had the joy and excitement of 30 burpees awaiting them. But never fear, next year our team will be even better prepared, as Summit Fit Dojo recently added a climbing rope to the collection! Now our athletes can train specifically for a rope climbing event, by trying their hand...or hands, at our 14ft high climbing rope.
